November, 2007 Yahoo announces an impending algorithm upgrade and adds video to search results. Now, Yahoo Search Marketing advertisers can block up to 250 domains from displaying their ads. Microsoft buys a share of Facebook and rolls out a new algorithm at Live.com that serves up maps and directions in response to location-specific searches, integrates price comparisons and user reviews with shopping-related searches, includes video in response to other searches, and suggests “related” links. Google Adsense introduces an initial “validation period” to its Referral Ad program. Now, payouts for the first wave of leads will be delayed until Google has confirmed that they've converted. Google Adwords launches a new initiative to help users improve their Quality Scores - the Keyword Analysis page. Now you can set up Google Analytics to track searches conducted through your in-site search engine. Google rolls out Facebook/MySpace competitor OpenSocial. Its interface allows developers to create applications that will work on other networking sites, too.
